Research Project: Autonomous Drone
This project was carried out by our technical innovation partner, the Ingenieurbüro Dr. Andreas Baumann.
Ingenieurbüro Dr. Andreas Baumann was funded by the European Union and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) via the ProFIT Brandenburg funding program as part of a research project. This funding relates to the research project entitled “Research project to create mobile, autonomous systems for various logistics, production and maintenance processes in a smart factory using AI-controlled drones as an example.”
Within this research project, new insights were gained in the fields of deep learning and artificial intelligence in order to enable autonomous, AI-controlled systems that can support various logistics, production and maintenance processes to a significantly greater extent than current robotic assistance systems. The solution is intended to deliver substantial economic benefits for users. To demonstrate that these new findings make it possible to develop specialized AI-controlled systems for indoor use in a short time, an autonomous drone (quadrocopter) for the inspection of industrial halls was developed as an example. For this purpose, it was equipped with a 3D gimbal camera that can be controlled via a VR interface.
An additional product that emerged from this research project is drone@on. You can find more information about this in our Product and System Solutions section.
